IMO Hospitals are Handling the COVID Crisis all Wrong

I would typically have just put this in the comments of one of the many COVID stories, but I think this needs to be said out loud.  Stories abound of hospitals not having room to treat people sick from heart attacks, strokes, chronic illnesses, cancer etc.

Why are hospitals filling every bed with COVID deniers?  I understand that they feel committed to treat every person who needs help.  But I feel that at some point hospitals need to practice some common sense about the COVID crush.  Hospitals need to set a policy to keep some beds open, let’s say 10-20 %, for people who are sick from other issues.

This may sound cruel, but SCREW THOSE IDIOTS!  If you refuse to get vaccinated and then go crawling to the hospital looking for help, then you should wait for a bed or be sent home if someone who has a legitimate non-COVID medical issue needs the bed you’re occupying. Not the other way around, which is what is happening.

I’m hearing & reading stories of cancer patients and others with real medical problems unable to get a bed or stay in the hospital when they need it. This is unconscionable that hospitals are doing this. They need to reprioritize.  Schedule the elective surgeries so they can make the profits they need and not prioritize the selfish and stupid, who refuse to do the most simple things to take care of their own health.  The attitude should be... if they don’t care enough about their health to wear a mask and get vaccinated, they why should the hospitals care any more about their life and health than they did?
